Gayla Trail and her associated website (http://yougrowgirl.com/) and books are great resources for small space and container gardening. I have done lavender inside and it is meh unless you have a REALLY sunny window. Lavender likes sun and hot, hot, hot. Strawberries you can do from a hanging basket, and there are creative ways to grow tomatoes. Again, a lot of these like hot and sunny and may not be worth your troubles. The most rewarding things for me when apartment container gardening were herbs (parsley, basil, thyme, oregano) because they grow well in pots, cost a lot of money at the store, and are so easy to forget to buy and then you come home and you are like OH RIGHT I HAVE OREGANO, SCORE! It is hard to do produce in a really small space because you will get like one tomato and it is exciting, but also labor intensive for that one tomato. I will look and see what crops do well in shadier spots, and also in containers. Bountiful Container is also a good book.

I had so much fun, and I wish we were all still together. with beer. and food.

"because I’ve had a lot of foot problems since September when I woke up the day after Jamie’s wedding with throbbing left foot."

Whoa. Jamie-me-Jamie? You're in pain 6 months after my wedding?

Either it was an awesome wedding or this is a bad, bad sign. I'll keep Nick on alert.

I ran the cotton candy machine one year at my kids' school carnival. It was lots of fun, but boy was I sticky by the end of the night!

Have fun with it. Let me know if I can help out at the festival.

OHHH. That's a great idea! And, weirdly, I have a floor lamp right now with no shade. I should make one too!

My sister is using the balloon thing to create a shade for a ceiling lamp. I think it's a pretty cool idea.
